Residential community garden Tivoli Location; Ljubljana, Slovenia Client; Pomgrad d.d. Area; 600 m2 Project; 1999 Project team; Landscape architecture; Matej Kučina, Architecture; Sadar Vuga arhitekti The garden next to a business and residential building is of closed type and is used only by the owners of prestigious apartments, which is why this was an opportunity for more qualitative designing and use of materials. Conceptually the garden is planned as an apartment where the areas of the garden act as the rooms of the apartment. The entrance on the west side operates as an entrance hall - an entrance into the apartment, in this area some smaller areas are placed – rooms, connected by a communication area – the corridor. The garden is at the same time meant as a place where the residents can associate, but they can each retreat into their own space and a certain amount of privacy is guaranteed despite the common use. In the same way residents can define their own areas and place pieces of equipment, in accordance to their needs and wishes. That way the result is several areas within one – an inner articulation that with different ambience offers intimacy and sociability at the same time.
