Outline architectural scheme for the objects and outline scheme for landscape design in the area of Obrežje international border crossing Location; Obrežje, SLO/CRO border Client; Republic of Slovenia Competition; 1st prize Project; 2001 Project team; Matej Kučina, Enota - Milan Tomac, Dean Lah, Aljoša Dekleva The international border crossing Obrežje is the central border crossing between Slovenia and Croatia and at time of Slovenia entering the European Union represents the main entrance door from the southeast border. The crossing and its image should not be limited simply as the point of entering or exiting the country. It is the broader area, demanding a systematic solution of arrangement, as in its function as in image, because of the need for unified comprehension of the whole area. The trajectories represent the visualization of spatial lines of movement. The movement and transience – the main components of the area in question - serve as conceptual start for the integral arrangements of the border crossing area. The number of trajectories, expressed in the landscape in colours and materials, grows with the nearness to the point of the border crossing. The statics of the point of border crossing is mirrored in the deformation of the trajectories that are lifted as a construction system over the level of the surrounding terrain into the roof of border crossing itself.
