Roundabout
Wheel of Fortune
Over the last few years, French-style roundabouts conquered Europe. It is true that, in principle, they contribute to more fluid and safe traffic than classic intersections, but with the flood of roundabouts, the fashion of tasteless decorating of these roundabouts has expanded. Each mayor has his or her own roundabout, and these became the ultimate pre-election polygon for displaying sudden concern for citizens, for the tidiness of their town, and for naive and flashy decorating with kitsch of all kinds.
We got an opportunity to show how different roundabouts can be in 2015, when we designed the roundabout on Ljubljana bypass exit as part of a larger project. We wanted to create a dynamic, attractive and interactive roundabout that would set an example of good practice. I think we succeeded.
