Storks
Stork park
Park Velika Polana is one of our most favourite and most successful projects. Why? Because of the good concept, design complexity and multifunctionality that the small park allows. In the park, we wanted to present the landscape features of Prekmurje region, the slow rivers and dead branches, the poplars and the riparian vegetation, the typical carpentry and building heritage, the flat cultural landscape and many new urban contents.
But most of all, we wanted to include storks in the park, as Velika Polana is known for them. Stork nests on tall wooden columns are an integral part of the park’s equipment. It is probably the only urban park in the world dedicated to storks, the beautiful birds that have lived in harmony with humans for centuries. And the storks actually inhabited it.
