Tree Line
A new definition of tree line
Architect Aleš Prinčič invited us to participate in the renovation of the largest square in Maribor – Leon Štukelj Square. The square is, in principle, a large paved area, so we have designed several lines of trees that separate the square or soften the large surface of the square and the facades of the surrounding buildings.
And yet; the definition of an tree line is that it is a line of trees of the same species and of the same size, which are planted at a uniform distance. We deliberately violated this definition by planting a number of tree species by habitat and the size of similar trees. Our definition of a tree line reads, therefore, as a line of trees of different species and similar sizes, which are planted at a uniform distance.
